Kinky Curly Curling Custard

OK!!!!!!

I liked the KCCC. However the smell was too cakey. It smelled like Vanilla Ice Cream with Maraschino Cherries on top.

The results were kind of phenominal. I loved how curly my hair was, but I honest think I used way too much in the back and on my edges. The back and sides of my hair were gummy, and sticky and I didn't like that at all.

So I will try again, when I take my braids out, and I will see what happens then.

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure and my displeasure. I look horrible! LOL
ALSO! This was my morning after post after I slept on the curls and it still wasn't fully dry and gummy like I said before.

OYIN HANDMADE REVIEW

YAY! I finally got my ISH!

I am a fan of these products and I have to say the only real girp I have about them is that it takes 2 weeks to arrive.

Here is what I bought, and this is how I feel about the purchase.

Shine and Define: I love the smell, and the consistency. I feel like I have to use it while my hair is sopping welt to really make a difference, but since I've been natural and wearing my hair out, I find that most products require this.

The first time I used the product it became flaky and I didn't like the outcome of my twist out so much. However, I realized that this product in my case, should not be used for that. When I braid my hair it works great and when I slick it back it works wonderfully. In my opinion that is what this product works best for.

Burnt Sugar Pomade: Again, I liked this. I didn't love the smell as much as The Shine and Define, but I loved it non the less.

I used this for braids and I LOVE IT! It works really quite well, and I have to say since my journey began in October 2008, I've become a hair product whore.LOL

My hair was shiny, less tangled and smelled good. Gets my 2 thumbs up!

Honey-Hemp Conditioner- I liked this as a CO-Wash conditioner, but not as a really substantial conditioner. It did make my hair feel softer, but I like something that would be thicker. Now, I will give Oyin the benefit of the doubt because their products are handmade and I know how variables can be.

I give them 4 stars overall. My gripes are small and I am not a nit picker, nothing is perfect. However, I will be purchasing again and again.

I am now a repeat customer. LOL

Next on my Oyin Journey..... Juices and Berries :)

EGO ANYONE???

Lately i've been soft of feeling myself. I know there are somethings I need to improve, and because I've been steadily moving toward completing some the the goals I set forth for myself. I'll link you some of the videos that spell out how I feel.

Oh and not to mention, look out for some product videos and some lip gloss reviews.....

Oyin Handmade! It Finally Came!!!

Hello All!

I finally received my products from Oyin Handmade. First off I do really like the products I used, but I didnt't give you all a full list of what I've purchased.

Here's The List:

1. Shine and Define- gentle stlying serum
2. Honey Hemp Conditioner
3. Burnt Sugar Pomade
4. Whipped Pudding

I really like them all, and I have to say its mainly because they actually do what they say they are going to do.
I just received the honey hemp conditioner and burnt sugar pomade, and I have used the burnt sugar cpomade already. It Ssmmeellss gooodd! Like butterscotch candy.
The honey hemp conditioner will have to wait until after I take my braids out. To me the honey hemp conditioner and the shine and define both smell like Pineapple Now & later candy.
I love 'em! So hurry up and buy, and support this black owned business!

GOD SENT HIM TO ME!!

Ok, first I an not talking about a new love..... One can only hope (but thats a whole 'nother story). The man I am talking about is named N'krumah and he is a seriously talented jewelry designer.

This is how I came across his website. I was looking for some bronze earrings (yes I was being particular) and I was NOT finding them. I frequently the Clutch Magazine Website, and was just scrolling through, reading what caught my eye. And BAM! I see his earrings. Eureka! was exactly what I thought. So now, since I am giving you the gospel. Please check out this brothas information!

P.S. I haven't purchased anything YET (because of money constraints), but I plan on it very soon. Look at some of his goodies below.

I TOLD Y'ALL GIVE ME A MINUTE AND I'LL BE RIGHT BACK!!!!

I am so sorry i've been gone. Life has been extremely hectic. I will over the next few days make like 1 trillion posts, with the hope that you'll forgive me. :)

First OFF!!!

I have tried Oyin Handmade products. First let me say, I've so far only purchased the Shine and Define and to say the least I liked it. I thought it was kind of light, but I bought some more. I love the smell, its light and fruity.
My only gripe is that it TAKES TWO WEEKS TO GET YOUR STUFF! But on the flip side of that, I have to say that I truly respect handcrafted goodies :)
I have a new order that should be coming in tomorrow (fingers crossed). I ordered the Honey Hemp Conditioner, Shine and Define and Burnt Sugar Pomade. Seriously, I am looking forward to getting my goodies. I will definitely let you guys know how it is going.

Check out their site @ : www.oyinhandmade.com
And watch this video, it has a coupon code @ the end! Please believe I will be using it! LOL

Totally Unnecessary !!!!!

I am a frequent reader of http://www.elle.com/ as well as a few other sites. While perusing the site today I saw an article about vibrating mascara wands. Now before I go on, I have to say that I have been happily blessed with pretty good eyelashes, which on occassion have been confused for fakes.

Back to my point......

So while I am reading the site, the title of the piece happens to grab my attention:

Here Goes nothing...LOL

New (and Affordable) Vibrating Mascara

Vibrating mascara wands are nothing new—but affordable ones that won’t put a dent in your wallet are! Enter Maybelline’s new Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara: With 7,000 vibrations per minute the brush wraps each lash with a thickening, lengthening formula. The product won’t be available in drugstores until July 2009, but you can try out the mascara earlier by logging onto Target, Walmart, CVS, or Walgreens websites May 18 for an exclusive online (one day only!) preview sale.
—Emily Hebert

Personally I just think this is stupid, I mean really, how much more mascara do you need?

If your lashes are that tragically teeny weeny, you need to invest in some fakes! I know it's harsh, but get over it...LOL

Sexing Up the Lips!

Now, anyone who knows me well, knows that I have a thing (to say the least) for lipgloss and FLYY lipstick. In my mind, I don't have a particular brand that I like the most, but right now I am definitely feeling Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick.

So far I only have one which is named "Dessert First" it is a beautiful mauvey pink color that I absolutely adore! Perfect for work!

Now here is my dilemma, I am usually a girl who likes to go for a sheer glossy lip, but I have been finding myself more and more attracted to red lips. So I decided to purchase the Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in "frenched" which is a sexy sheer red lipstick.

When I get it in the mail, I will make sure to take a picture so you all can see how sexy I look...LOL

I Am So Hungry

Ok
So over the past few days, i've been lusting over sandwiches among other things. So I decided to try to find some recipes for sandwiches other than the usual ham and cheese with mayo or turkey and swiss with mayo. Happily I found the Martha Stewart and Rach. Ray website and I fell in love with some of their sandwiches. Check out the links and find one you love too!

Also, while watching the food network Tyler's Ultimate was on and homeboy was making ribs, with collard greens and whipped sweet potatoes AND banana pudding. Now while I was thinking "Yeah this is gonna be nasty", when he pulled everything out and plated it, all I could think was "I need a man to cook this for"...LOL
So for all who are interested, and everyone should be, check out the recipe and show clips here:

Baby Back Ribs and Young Collards Braised in Apple Juice:

2 slabs (4 pounds) baby back ribs
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Extra-virgin olive oil
2 bunches young collard greens, washed and rib removed
1 onion, peeled and sliced, 1/4-inch thick
1 head garlic, cut through the equator
1/2 gallon apple juice
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 bunch thyme
Whipped Sweet Potatoes, recipe follows
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Season pork ribs with plenty of salt and pepper. Heat a heavy-bottomed roasting pan over high heat and drizzle with oil. Sear ribs on both sides until golden brown for a few minutes per side. Pile both racks of ribs on 1 side of the roasting pan. On the other side, place collard greens, then onion and garlic on top. Pour in the apple juice and cider vinegar, add thyme, then cover with foil, place in the oven and braise for 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours.
When done, remove foil, baste the meat with the pan juices, then cook uncovered for a further 20 minutes until the meat has a nice caramelization and the liquid reduces, forming a sticky glaze on the meat. Place the collard greens and braising liquid on a serving platter and top with the ribs. Serve ribs over collard greens with braising liquid and pureed sweet potatoes

Whipped Sweet Potatoes:
4 large sweet potatoes, scrubbed
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 cups heavy cream
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 orange, zested
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Prick the sweet potatoes all over with a fork, drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Put them in a roasting pan and roast for 45 minutes until they are very soft. Remove the pan from the oven.
In a small sauce pot, over low heat, heat the cream with the bay leaves, then keep warm until ready to puree potatoes. Discard the bay leaves before adding to potatoes.
When the potatoes are cool enough to handle, scoop the flesh into the bowl of a food processor. Season with salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange zest, and brown sugar. Add cream and 1 tablespoon of butter and puree until super smooth.
Yield: 10 to 12 servings
